Pep Guardiola has reacted angrily after a football fan made comments to the Manchester City manager as he walked down a Salford street.
A video showing Pep Guardiola reacting angrily to a football fan’s taunt is making the rounds on social media, but it appears the footage was actually filmed after last season’s FA Cup final, when Manchester United beat Manchester City at Wembley.
In the video, Guardiola – dressed in the same kit he wore in May’s final – can be seen walking down a Salford street when someone says: “Damn mate, just because you lost.” Guardiola quickly turns to face the supporter but is stopped by those around him.
Although the video appears to be from earlier this year, it has been suggested on the social media platform X that the video was new and was recorded amid City’s poor form of late.
Manchester City ended a seven-match winless run on Wednesday when Guardiola’s men recorded a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest; prior to that victory, City had lost six games and drawn one.
Liverpool’s draw with Newcastle on the same evening saw City, Arsenal and Chelsea close the gap on the league leaders, with all three sides recording wins in their midweek fixtures.
Liverpool will have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table to 10 points – temporarily, at least – when the Reds face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday morning.
It will be Arne Slott’s first taste of the Merseyside derby and he will give a press conference on Friday. “I think it will be special for everyone – for all the fans involved, for all the players involved and also for the management,” said Slott.
“Being part of this game is already special and being part of the last one at Goodison Park probably makes it even more special. But it’s only an enjoyable experience if the result is in your favour. That’s what we’re focusing on the most for this game.”
