COLUMBUS, OH – Ohio State superstar quarterback, C.J. Stroud, has received yet another colossal take, this time from NFL analyst and draft expert, Todd McShay.
In his latest mock draft, McShay has Stroud going as the number one overall pick to the Carolina Panthers. This is not the first time Stroud has been projected as the top pick, but it’s certainly a notable endorsement from one of the most respected voices in the NFL draft community.
“C.J. Stroud is the complete package,” McShay wrote in his mock draft. “He’s got the arm talent, the athleticism, and the intangibles to be a franchise quarterback in the NFL. He’s the clear-cut number one quarterback in this draft class, and I think he’s got a real chance to be a generational talent at the position.”
Stroud, a redshirt sophomore from Inland Empire, California, has been one of the most dominant players in college football over the past two seasons. He’s thrown for over 7,000 yards and 70 touchdowns, and has led the Buckeyes to back-to-back Big Ten championships.
Despite his impressive resume, Stroud has faced some criticism from scouts and analysts who question his ability to translate his skills to the NFL. However, McShay’s endorsement is a significant boost to Stroud’s draft stock, and could help to silence some of his critics.
“I think C.J. Stroud is a phenomenal quarterback, and I’m not surprised to see him going number one overall in Todd McShay’s mock draft,” said Ohio State head coach Ryan Day. “C.J. has all the tools to be a great quarterback in the NFL, and I think he’s got a bright future ahead of him.”
Stroud’s draft stock is likely to continue to rise as the NFL draft approaches. He’s expected to be one of the top players invited to the NFL Combine, and could potentially be the first quarterback off the board on draft night.
“C.J. Stroud is a special player, and I think he’s got a real chance to be a franchise quarterback in the NFL,” said McShay. “He’s got all the physical tools, and he’s got the intangibles to be a leader on and off the field. I think he’s going to be a star in the NFL for years to come.”
