🚨 – 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Terrible incident occured as The Manchester City squad visited Kyle Walker in the hospital today to check on him following the horrific incident he suffered during last week’s Manchester derby
It is expected he will be held until the new year to let his gras burns settle down. 💪
This comes as City’s season hits a rough patch, having won just one of their last 11 games following a 2-1 derby defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
According to a Daily Mail report by Jack Gaughan, Walker—one of City’s key defensive figures—is said to have been playing through an undisclosed injury for over a month due to the team’s defensive crisis. Despite this, manager Pep Guardiola has refrained from mentioning the issue publicly.
A source inside City has painted a worrying picture of Walker’s current state, describing the 34-year-old as being noticeably quiet and reserved around the club’s training complex. This contrasts with his usual reputation as a big character in the dressing room, having twice been voted club captain by his teammates.
Walker, who has been criticized for defensive errors in key moments this season, also struggled in a recent training match against City’s academy players following a disappointing 3-3 draw with Feyenoord in the Champions League. The England international’s performances have attracted further scrutiny from pundits and former players.
Former City star Samir Nasri didn’t hold back in his criticism, telling Canal+: “Kyle Walker has had the worst defensive season of his career. There are things happening off the pitch that are clearly affecting his performance.”
Walker’s personal life has been in turmoil after his wife, Annie Kilner, filed for divorce in October. Kilner, the mother of Walker’s four children, is reportedly demanding half of his £27 million fortune. The off-field distractions, coupled with his on-field struggles, have further intensified the scrutiny on the City captain.
Walker’s dip in form reflects City’s current defensive fragility, which saw them collapse late in the Manchester derby after leading 1-0. With Aston Villa up next on Saturday, Guardiola’s side faces a stern test as they attempt to arrest their alarming decline.
