The Tennessee Lady Vols softball team wrapped up their weekend with a convincing 6-0 win over Indiana State on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Vols, who improved to 15-5 overall, were led by a dominant performance from pitcher Ashley Rogers. Rogers tossed a complete game shutout, scattering just three hits and striking out 10 Indiana State batters.

“Ashley was phenomenal today,” said Lady Vols co-head coach Karen Weekly. “She had all of her pitches working and was able to keep Indiana State’s offense off balance all game.”

Tennessee’s offense, meanwhile, was led by a pair of home runs from catcher Ally Shipman. Shipman’s first home run came in the bottom of the second inning, when she launched a solo shot over the left field wall to give the Lady Vols a 1-0 lead.

Shipman’s second home run came in the bottom of the sixth inning, when she hit a two-run blast to center field to give Tennessee a 6-0 lead.

“Ally had a huge day for us,” said Weekly. “Her home runs were big momentum boosters for our team, and helped us to pull away from Indiana State.”

The Lady Vols also got a strong performance from shortstop Kiki Milloy, who went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs.

“Kiki was a sparkplug for us today,” said Weekly. “She had some big hits and made some great plays in the field.”

The win over Indiana State capped off a successful weekend for the Lady Vols, who also defeated Wright State and Butler in the Tennessee Invitational.

“We’re proud of the way our team played this weekend,” said Weekly. “We faced some tough competition and came out on top. It was a great team effort.”

The Lady Vols will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host ETSU in a non-conference matchup.

“We’re looking forward to getting back out on the field on Wednesday,” said Weekly. “We know ETSU will be a tough opponent, but we’re confident in our team’s abilities.”

The win over Indiana State was a great way for the Lady Vols to wrap up their weekend, and it sets them up well for the rest of their season.

“We’re feeling good about ourselves right now,” said Weekly. “We know we’ve got a tough schedule ahead of us, but we’re ready for the challenge. Our team is playing with a lot of confidence, and we’re excited to see what we can do.”

The Lady Vols’ 6-0 win over Indiana State was a dominant performance from start to finish, and it was a great way for the team to wrap up their weekend. With a strong performance from Ashley Rogers and a pair of home runs from Ally Shipman, Tennessee was able to pull away from Indiana State and secure the win.
