In a stunning display of power and skill, Tennessee freshman Levi Clark hit a home run out of the Houston Astros’ Minute Maid Park on Friday, leaving fans and scouts alike in awe.

Clark, a highly touted freshman from Knoxville, Tennessee, was participating in the Astros’ annual High School Baseball Showcase, which features some of the top high school and college players from around the country.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound outfielder stepped up to the plate in the top of the fifth inning and took a 2-1 pitch from Astros’ prospect Ryan Gusto deep to left field, clearing the 19-foot-high wall in left field and landing on the train tracks beyond the outfield wall.

The home run was estimated to have traveled over 420 feet, and was one of the longest home runs hit in the history of the showcase.

“Levi’s home run was one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen,” said Astros’ scouting director, Kris Gross. “He’s got incredible power and a beautiful swing. We’re definitely going to be keeping an eye on him in the future.”

Clark’s impressive display of power was not limited to just the one home run. He also doubled in the top of the third inning and scored a run, finishing the day 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

“Levi’s got a lot of tools, and he’s only going to get better,” said Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello. “He’s got a great work ethic and a passion for the game that’s unmatched. We’re excited to see what he can do for us this season.”

Clark’s home run was not only impressive, but it also marked a milestone for the Astros’ organization. The home run was the first to ever be hit out of Minute Maid Park by a high school or college player.

“We’re thrilled to have Levi as part of our showcase,” said Astros’ general manager, James Click. “He’s an incredible talent, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for him.”
