
_Ohio State Enters Big Ten Tournament as No. 3 Seed_
The Ohio State University men’s basketball team has earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament, which is set to take place from March 8-12 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
The Buckeyes finished the regular season with a 19-11 overall record and a 12-8 mark in the Big Ten, which was good for third place in the conference standings. Ohio State’s strong finish to the season, which included wins over Michigan, Michigan State, and Purdue, helped the team secure the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
“We’re excited to be heading to Chicago for the Big Ten Tournament,” said Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann. “We know it’s going to be a tough and competitive tournament, but we’re looking forward to the challenge. Our guys have worked hard all season, and we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far.”
As the No. 3 seed, Ohio State will receive a first-round bye in the tournament and will play its first game on Friday, March 10, against the winner of the game between No. 6 seed Iowa and No. 11 seed Northwestern.
The Buckeyes have had success in the Big Ten Tournament in recent years, winning the championship in 2013 and advancing to the semifinals in 2020. Ohio State is looking to make a deep run in the tournament this year and secure a high seed in the NCAA Tournament.
“We know that the Big Ten Tournament is a great opportunity for us to compete against some of the best teams in the country and to make a statement heading into the NCAA Tournament,” said Holtmann. “We’re excited to get started and to see what we can accomplish.”
Ohio State’s roster is led by a talented group of players, including senior forward E.J. Liddell, who is averaging 19.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. The Buckeyes also feature a strong supporting cast, including guards Malaki Branham and Jamari Wheeler, and forwards Kyle Young and Justice Sueing.
The Big Ten Tournament is one of the most competitive conference tournaments in the country, featuring some of the top teams and players in the nation. Ohio State is looking to make a strong showing in the tournament and to prove itself as one of the top teams in the Big Ten.
“We’re looking forward to the challenge of competing against some of the best teams in the country,” said Holtmann. “We know it’s going to be a tough tournament, but we’re excited to get started and to see what we can accomplish.”
The Big Ten Tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, March 8, with the first round games featuring the No. 12 seed Nebraska vs. the No. 13 seed Minnesota, and the No. 11 seed Northwestern vs. the No. 14 seed Minnesota. The tournament will continue through the weekend, with the championship game set to take place on Sunday, March 12.
Ohio State’s first game in the tournament is set to take place on Friday, March 10, at 6:30 p.m. ET, against the winner of the game between No. 6 seed Iowa and No. 11 seed Northwestern. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
