_Sarah Te-Biasu Drills INCREDIBLE 3-pointer to Help Maryland Defeat Ohio State in OT_
In a thrilling matchup between two of the top teams in the Big Ten, the Maryland Terrapins pulled off a stunning upset, defeating the Ohio State Buckeyes 75-73 in overtime on Thursday night.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to gain a significant advantage. However, it was a incredible 3-pointer by Maryland’s Sarah Te-Biasu in overtime that proved to be the difference-maker.
With the game tied at 70-70 and just over a minute remaining in overtime, Te-Biasu drilled a deep 3-pointer from the top of the key, giving Maryland a 73-70 lead. The shot was a dagger to the heart of the Buckeyes, and Ohio State was unable to recover.
“Oh my gosh, it was an incredible feeling,” said Te-Biasu. “I knew I had to make a play, and I’m just glad I was able to come through for my team.”
The win was a huge upset for Maryland, which had been struggling in conference play. The Terrapins had lost three of their previous four games, but they were able to pull off a massive victory over one of the top teams in the country.
“We’re thrilled to get this win,” said Maryland head coach Brenda Frese. “Our players showed a lot of heart and determination, and we’re proud of the way they battled tonight.”
Ohio State, on the other hand, was left reeling from the loss. The Buckeyes had been playing well, winning seven of their previous nine games, but they were unable to overcome Maryland’s strong defensive effort and clutch shooting.
“We’re disappointed with the loss, but we have to give Maryland credit,” said Ohio State head coach Kevin McGuff. “They played a great game, and we just couldn’t make enough plays to win.”
The loss was a significant setback for Ohio State, which had been ranked as high as No. 2 in the country earlier this season. The Buckeyes will now have to regroup and refocus as they head into the final stretch of the regular season.
Maryland, meanwhile, will look to build on its momentum as it heads into its next game against Michigan State. The Terrapins will be looking to make a push for the NCAA Tournament, and a win over Ohio State is a huge step in that direction.
“We’re feeling good about ourselves right now,” said Frese. “We’re playing some of our best basketball of the season, and we’re excited to see where it takes us.”
The win over Ohio State was a massive upset for Maryland, and it will be interesting to see how the Terrapins follow it up. With a strong defensive effort and some clutch shooting, Maryland was able to pull off a significant victory and give itself a boost in the Big Ten standings.
As for Te-Biasu, she will be remembered for her incredible 3-pointer in overtime, a shot that will go down in Maryland basketball history.
“It’s a shot I’ll never forget,” said Te-Biasu. “I’m just glad I was able to make it and help my team win.”
