_Tennessee Vols Running Back Dylan Sampson Shoots Down Vicious Rumor from the End of the 2024 Season_
Knoxville, TN – Tennessee Vols running back Dylan Sampson is setting the record straight. After a vicious rumor circulated on social media at the end of the 2024 season, Sampson is speaking out to clear his name and put the speculation to rest.
For those who may have missed it, the rumor in question suggested that Sampson had a heated argument with head coach Josh Heupel during the Vols’ final game of the season. According to the rumor, the argument was so intense that Sampson stormed out of the locker room and refused to return to the game.
However, Sampson is adamant that the rumor is completely false. In an exclusive interview with A to Z Sports, Sampson explained that the rumor is nothing more than a fabrication with no basis in reality.
“I don’t know where that rumor came from, but it’s completely untrue,” Sampson said. “I never had an argument with Coach Heupel, and I never stormed out of the locker room. It’s just not true.”
Sampson went on to explain that he did suffer a minor injury during the game, which may have contributed to the rumor. However, he emphasized that the injury was not serious and did not lead to any kind of confrontation with Heupel.
“I did tweak my ankle a bit during the game, but it was nothing serious,” Sampson said. “I just needed to get it taped up and I was good to go. I don’t know how that got twisted into some kind of argument with Coach Heupel.”
Heupel also weighed in on the rumor, calling it “completely false” and “ridiculous.” The Vols’ head coach praised Sampson for his maturity and professionalism, both on and off the field.
“Dylan is a great kid and a talented player,” Heupel said. “He’s been a valuable member of our team all season, and I’m proud of the way he’s handled himself. This rumor is just a bunch of nonsense, and I’m glad Dylan is speaking out to set the record straight.”
Sampson’s teammates also rallied around him, expressing their support and admiration for the running back.
“Dylan is a brother to all of us, and we’ve got his back,” said Vols quarterback Joe Milton. “We know the rumor is false, and we’re glad Dylan is speaking out to clear his name.”
As for Sampson, he’s just happy to have the opportunity to set the record straight and move on from the rumor.
“I’m just glad I can put this behind me and focus on getting ready for next season,” Sampson said. “I’m excited to get back to work and help the Vols make a run in 2025.”
