
_Updating Lady Vols Rankings in College Basketball Polls after Losses to Kentucky, Georgia_
Knoxville, TN – The Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team has seen its rankings take a hit in the latest college basketball polls. After suffering losses to Kentucky and Georgia in their last two games, the Lady Vols have dropped in the rankings.
In the Associated Press Top 25 poll, the Lady Vols fell from No. 12 to No. 16. They received 344 points, down from 411 points last week.
In the USA Today Coaches Poll, the Lady Vols dropped from No. 11 to No. 15. They received 234 points, down from 281 points last week.
The Lady Vols’ losses to Kentucky and Georgia were their first two losses in Southeastern Conference play this season. They had previously been undefeated in conference play, with a 10-0 record.
Despite the losses, the Lady Vols are still considered one of the top teams in the country. They have a 20-5 overall record and a 10-2 record in SEC play.
“We’re not going to let two losses define our season,” said Lady Vols coach Kellie Harper. “We’re going to learn from our mistakes and move forward. We still have a lot to play for this season.”
The Lady Vols’ next game is against Texas A&M on Friday in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament. The game will be played at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
“We’re excited to play in the SEC Tournament,” said Harper. “We know it’s going to be a tough game against Texas A&M, but we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
The Lady Vols are led by senior forward Rickea Jackson, who averages 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. They also have a strong supporting cast, including junior guard Jordan Horston, who averages 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Despite their recent losses, the Lady Vols are still considered a contender for the NCAA Tournament. They have a strong resume, with wins over several top-25 teams, including UConn, Stanford, and LSU.
“We’re not worried about our NCAA Tournament chances,” said Harper. “We’re focused on winning the SEC Tournament and making a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. We know we have the talent and the ability to make it happen.”
