COLUMBUS, OH – As the Ohio State Buckeyes strive for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, they are increasingly depending on the contributions of sophomore guard Micah Parrish.

Parrish, a 6-foot-3 guard from Indianapolis, Indiana, has been a key player for the Buckeyes all season, but his importance to the team has grown exponentially in recent weeks.

With the Buckeyes struggling to find consistency on offense, Parrish has emerged as a reliable scoring threat, averaging 12.5 points per game over the team’s last six contests.

“Micah has been playing with a lot of confidence lately,” said Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann. “He’s been aggressive on offense, and he’s been making plays for us. We need him to continue to play at this level if we’re going to make a push for the NCAA Tournament.”

Parrish’s emergence as a key player for the Buckeyes is not surprising, given his impressive freshman season. As a rookie, Parrish averaged 8.5 points per game and shot 43.6% from the field, earning him a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

However, Parrish’s sophomore season got off to a slow start, as he struggled to find his shooting stroke and adjust to the added defensive attention he was receiving.

“I think Micah put a lot of pressure on himself early in the season,” said Holtmann. “He was trying to live up to the expectations that he had for himself, and it was affecting his play. But he’s relaxed now, and he’s playing with a lot more freedom.”

Parrish’s increased production has been a major factor in the Buckeyes’ recent success. Over the team’s last six games, Ohio State has gone 4-2, with Parrish averaging 17.3 points per game during that stretch.

“Micah is a big part of what we’re trying to do on offense,” said Ohio State point guard Jamari Wheeler. “He’s a guy who can score from anywhere on the court, and he’s not afraid to take big shots. We need him to continue to play at this level if we’re going to make a push for the NCAA Tournament.”

As the Buckeyes prepare for the final stretch of the regular season, they know that they will need Parrish to continue to play at a high level if they want to achieve their goal of making the NCAA Tournament.

“Micah is a key player for us, and we need him to continue to play well,” said Holtmann. “But I’m confident that he will. He’s a talented player who is capable of making big plays, and I think he’s going to continue to do that for us down the stretch.”

The Buckeyes’ next game is against the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday. With Parrish leading the way, Ohio State will be looking to pick up a big win and take another step towards securing a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
