_’He’s a stud’ – Former Vols WR Bru McCoy Names the Tennessee Player to Watch on Offense in 2025_
Knoxville, TN – The Tennessee Volunteers are expected to have a strong offense in 2025, and according to former Vols wide receiver Bru McCoy, there’s one player in particular who fans should keep an eye on.
McCoy, who played for the Vols in 2020 and 2021 before transferring to USC, recently spoke with A to Z Sports about the upcoming season and which Tennessee player he thinks will make a big impact on offense.
“For me, it’s gotta be Ramel Keyton,” McCoy said. “He’s a stud. He’s got the size, the speed, and the athleticism to be a dominant receiver in the SEC. I’ve seen him make some incredible plays in practice and in games, and I think he’s got the potential to be a game-changer for the Vols this season.”
Keyton, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound wide receiver from Marietta, Georgia, has been impressive in his first two seasons with the Vols. As a freshman in 2022, he caught 22 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns, and last season he hauled in 35 receptions for 512 yards and four scores.
But despite his solid production, Keyton has yet to become a household name in college football. McCoy thinks that’s about to change in 2025.
“Ramel’s got all the tools to be a star receiver,” McCoy said. “He’s got the size and strength to go up and get the ball, and he’s got the speed and agility to make big plays down the field. He’s also got great hands and is a reliable target for the quarterback. I think he’s going to have a huge season this year and really put himself on the map as one of the top receivers in the country.”
Keyton’s emergence as a top receiver would be a big boost for the Vols’ offense, which is expected to be one of the most explosive units in the SEC. With quarterback Joe Milton returning for his senior season, and a deep and talented group of running backs and wide receivers, the Vols have the potential to be a top-10 offense in the country.
And with Keyton leading the way, the Vols’ passing game could be particularly potent.
“Ramel’s got the ability to take the top off the defense and make big plays down the field,” McCoy said. “He’s also got the size and strength to go up and get the ball in traffic, which makes him a reliable target for the quarterback. I think he’s going to be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses this season.”
Overall, McCoy is high on Keyton’s potential and thinks he could be a breakout star for the Vols in 2025.
“Ramel’s got all the tools to be a great receiver,” McCoy said. “He’s just got to put it all together and stay healthy. If he does that, I think he’s got the potential to be one of the top receivers in the country.”
