How Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter was found guilty of multi-million-dollar fraud targeting Japanese baseball star

Japanese baseball star Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter Ippei Mizuhara has been found guilty of committing a multi-million-dollar fraud targeting the Los Angeles Dodgers player. Besides being his interpreter, Mizuhara was also Ohtani’s confidant and managed a variety of things from his finances to daily errands, which led to him earning the pitcher and designated hitter’s blind trust.

A nearly four-minute audio recording allegedly captured Mizuhara impersonating the Major League Baseball (MLB) star on a call with a bank as he attempted to transfer $200,000 for what he describes as a car loan, federal prosecutors said Thursday.
