. Mohamed Salah scored 165 Premier League goals.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has admitted he is delighted Mohamed Salah has overtaken him as the Premier League’s all-time top scorer and has urged the Egyptian to stay at Anfield until the end of the season.

Salah’s Premier League tally took his tally to 164 in Saturday’s second-half win over Brighton & Hove Albion. All but two since moving to Anfield in 2017.

The 32-year-old’s curling goal is eighth on the list, one more than Fowler’s 164 goals for Anfield, Leeds United and Manchester City.

But Reds icon Fowler, who earned the nickname ‘God’ on the Kop for his stunning goals, has no problem with Salah being on Liverpool’s top scorers list and insisted the Egyptian could soon join him Thierry Henry in seventh place.

“Mo Salah has overtaken me as the Premier League’s top goalscorer and I’m delighted for him,” Fowler said in a recent Mirror article. “I’m a Liverpool fan so it makes me feel good when they score a goal.

“What he achieved at Anfield was remarkable and after scoring his 164th goal against Brighton last week, he moved into eighth place behind Thierry Henry with 175 goals. “With three quarters of the season left I’m confident Salah (right) will do it because his performance so far for Liverpool has been fantastic, I’m proud to have managed to finish in the top 10. I’m sorry.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is delighted Mohamed Salah has become the Premier League’s all-time top scorer and has urged the Egyptian to stay at Anfield until the end of the season.

Salah took his Premier League tally to 164 points in Saturday’s second-half win over Brighton & Hove Albion. He has scored all but two goals since moving to Anfield in 2017.

His curling performance means the 32-year-old has moved up to eighth in the rankings, one more than Fowler’s 164 goals for Anfield, Leeds United and Manchester City. But Reds icon Fowler, nicknamed ‘God’ on the Kop for his stunning goals, said he is not worried about Salah becoming Liverpool’s biggest player on the list and even hopes to move up to seventh alongside Egypt’s Thierry. Henry caught up with him.

“Mo Salah has overtaken me on the Premier League top scorers list and I’m delighted for him,” said Fowler in his recent Mirror column. “I’m glad he scored because I’m a Liverpool fan.

“What he achieved at Anfield was incredible and he is now behind Thierry Henry with 175 goals. Last week, against Brighton, he scored 164 goals and ranked 8th. “With three quarters of the season left, I’m confident Salah (right) will because he’s done a fantastic job so far for Liverpool and I’m proud to be in the top 10, but it’s disappointing.”

“Because I know that if I had been different in English football in the last four years, I would have been ranked higher. I was a minor player at the time and wasn’t playing as much as I wanted to. “If I had done that, I think I would have scored more goals.”

Salah was 10 goals behind two-time Premier League winner Henry (175 goals) after Saturday’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa. If he maintains his current speed, he will overtake the French army in no time.

However, it is unclear how much Salah can rise in the league as he is set to leave Anfield when his contract expires at the end of the season. However, Fowler believes the Egyptian wants to stay at Anfield after Salah confirmed his love for the club in a social media post last week.

“The secret message from Salah after he scored against Brighton was that the ball was in Liverpool’s court because of their contract situation,” he added. “I think he wants to stay, but I’m not the only one at Anfield.
