KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Volunteers baseball team is looking to sweep their weekend series against the Samford Bulldogs on Sunday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

 

The Vols (6-0) have been dominant in the first two games of the series, winning 10-2 on Friday and 9-3 on Saturday. Tennessee’s offense has been led by the strong play of Christian Scott, who is hitting .429 with two home runs and six RBIs.

 

Samford (2-4) has struggled to keep up with the Vols’ high-powered offense, scoring just five runs in the first two games of the series. The Bulldogs will look to get their offense going on Sunday, led by the strong play of Max Pinto, who is hitting .333 with a home run and three RBIs.

 

Tennessee will send junior right-hander Chase Dollander to the mound on Sunday, looking to improve to 2-0 on the season. Dollander has been dominant in his first two starts, allowing just two earned runs on six hits in 10 innings of work.

 

Samford will counter with sophomore right-hander Brooks Fuller, who is looking to improve to 1-1 on the season. Fuller has struggled in his first two starts, allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits in 8.2 innings of work.

 

The Vols are looking to sweep their second straight series to open the season, and they’re confident in their ability to get the job done.

 

“We’re feeling good about ourselves right now,” said Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello. “We’re playing well on both sides of the ball, and we’re getting contributions from everyone on the team. We’re looking forward to the challenge of facing Samford on Sunday.”
