Knoxville, Tennessee – The Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team is celebrating a huge win over the Auburn Tigers, and head coach Kellie Harper and several players reacted to the victory in the post-game press conference.
The Lady Vols dominated the Tigers 99-61, with junior guard Jordan Horston leading the way with 17 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds. Senior forward Keyen Green added 14 points and 7 rebounds, while freshman guard Brooklyn Miles chipped in with 11 points and 4 rebounds.
“We played a great game tonight,” Harper said. “Our players were focused and energized, and we were able to take advantage of Auburn’s mistakes. I’m proud of our team’s effort and execution.”
Horston, who has been playing some of the best basketball of her career, was thrilled with the win. “It was a great team effort,” she said. “We were all clicking on the same page, and it was fun to play like that.”
Green, who has been a consistent contributor for the Lady Vols all season, was pleased with the team’s defensive effort. “We did a great job of defending and rebounding,” she said. “That’s what won us the game.”
Miles, who has been a sparkplug off the bench for the Lady Vols, was excited to contribute to the win. “It was a great feeling to be able to help my team win,” she said. “I’m just trying to do my part and help us succeed.”
The Lady Vols’ win over Auburn improves their record to 21-5 overall and 11-2 in the SEC. They will be back in action on Sunday, when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores at Thompson-Boling Arena.
“We’re feeling confident right now,” Harper said. “But we know that we have to stay focused and keep working hard. We can’t afford to let up.”
The Lady Vols’ huge win over Auburn is a testament to the team’s strength and depth. With the victory, Tennessee solidifies its position as one of the top teams in the SEC.
