KNOXVILLE, TN – The Tennessee Volunteers basketball team has a long history of producing talented players who have gone on to achieve great success on the court.
Two of the latest players to join this esteemed group are Zakai Zeigler and Mashack, who became the seventh and eighth Vols, respectively, to reach 100 victories in their careers.
Zeigler and Mashack achieved this milestone on Saturday, as the Vols defeated their opponent by a score of 100-33. This victory improved Tennessee’s overall record to 752-33, which translates to a winning percentage of .702. In Southeastern Conference (SEC) play, the Vols boast an impressive record of 47-20, with a winning percentage of .667. In NCAA competition, Tennessee has a record of 6-3, with a winning percentage of .667.
What’s even more impressive is that five of the eight players on this list have achieved this milestone under the tutelage of current head coach Rick Barnes. Barnes, who is in his eighth season at Tennessee, has established himself as one of the top coaches in the country. His ability to develop players and lead them to success on the court is a testament to his coaching prowess.
“Zakai and Mashack are two of the hardest-working players I’ve ever had the pleasure of coaching,” Barnes said. “Their dedication to the game and their commitment to excellence are qualities that have served them well throughout their careers. I’m proud of both of them for reaching this milestone, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to coach them.”
Zeigler, a junior guard, has been a key contributor to the Vols’ success this season. He’s averaging 10.5 points and 5.2 assists per game, while shooting 43.2% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range.
Mashack, a senior forward, has also been an important part of the Vols’ rotation. He’s averaging 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.1% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range.
Both Zeigler and Mashack have been instrumental in the Vols’ success this season, and their achievement of 100 career victories is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
As the Vols continue to push through the remainder of their schedule, they’ll be looking to add to their win total and make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. With players like Zeigler and Mashack leading the way, Tennessee is well-positioned to make a serious run at a national championship.
