Lady Vols Break Season Three-Point Record: A Historic Achievement for the Tennessee Women’s Basketball Program”

KNOXVILLE, TN – The Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team made history on Thursday night, breaking the program’s single-season three-point record in their 73-65 win over Auburn at Thompson-Boling Arena.

The Lady Vols (20-8, 9-5 SEC) have been one of the top three-point shooting teams in the country all season, and they continued to show off their range against the Tigers. With 10 three-pointers against Auburn, the Lady Vols have now made 244 three-pointers on the season, breaking the previous program record of 237 set in the 2016-17 season.

“We’re thrilled to break the record,” said Tennessee head coach, Kellie Harper. “Our players have worked hard to develop their shooting skills, and it’s great to see them being rewarded with a record-breaking season. We’re proud of our team’s accomplishment and look forward to continuing to make shots from beyond the arc.”

The Lady Vols’ three-point shooting has been a key factor in their success this season. They are currently ranked second in the SEC in three-point shooting percentage, making 37.4% of their shots from beyond the arc.

Junior guard, Jewel Spear, has been one of the top three-point shooters in the country all season, making 43.8% of her shots from beyond the arc. She has made a team-high 64 three-pointers on the season, and her shooting has been a key factor in the Lady Vols’ success.

“Jewel has been incredible all season,” said Harper. “She’s got a great shooting stroke, and she’s always looking to get her teammates involved. She’s a big reason why we’ve been able to break the three-point record this season.”

The Lady Vols’ three-point shooting has also been a key factor in their ability to come from behind and win games. In their win over Auburn, the Lady Vols trailed by as many as 10 points in the second quarter, but they were able to come back and take the lead thanks to their three-point shooting.

“We’ve been in a lot of close games this season, and our three-point shooting has been a big factor in our ability to come out on top,” said Harper. “We’ve got a lot of confidence in our shooters, and we know that they can make big shots when it matters most.”

The Lady Vols’ record-breaking three-point season is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team’s players and coaches. It’s also a reflection of the team’s commitment to playing an exciting and aggressive brand of basketball.

“We’re proud of our team’s accomplishment, and we’re excited to see what the rest of the season holds,” said Harper. “We’re going to keep working hard and trying to make shots from beyond the arc. We’re excited to see where this season takes us.”

The Lady Vols will be back in action on Sunday, when they host Vanderbilt at Thompson-Boling Arena. The game is set to tip off at 2 p.m. ET, and it will be broadcast on ESPN2.

“We’re looking forward to our next game against Vanderbilt,” said Harper. “We know it’s going to be a tough game, but we’re confident in our abilities. We’re going to go out and give it our all, and we’re excited to see what happens.”
