Manchester City are battling again with Cole Palmer following a new transfer update

Manchester City may not regret the triumphs of recent seasons, but there is one shortcoming that is now at risk of repeating itself.

The decision to sell Cole Palmer to Chelsea in the summer of 2023 is something they may look back on and think they could have done differently.

The striker, who has barely played in the last four seasons, could make the move to London after rising to the top of the table at the Etihad.

Palmer has continued to impress for Chelsea, scoring 32 goals and providing 20 assists in 58 appearances in all competitions, becoming one of Chelsea’s most important players.

His form also saw him win numerous individual trophies last season, meaning Manchester City could feel they are missing out on a vital asset.

Based on the latest transfer updates, it is certain that the Premier League champions could do the same again in the new year.

West Ham and Fulham are targeting Manchester City’s James McAtee

According to The Guardian, Premier League clubs West Ham and Fulham are interested in signing James McAtee ahead of the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at Sheffield United and has had little chance since returning to Manchester City in the summer.

He has made just one Premier League appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side this season.

As a result, he never got the chance to show what he can do at this level for the reigning Premier League champions. It’s a similar story with Palmer’s transfer as he doesn’t seem to have played as well at Manchester City as he would have liked.

However, McAtee has shown great potential during his time with the Blades. He helped them to promotion to the Championship in the 2022/23 season.

He also stood out despite a poor season at Sheffield United in the Premier League last season. So given the opportunity to have a stronger squad under Guardiola, he could make an impact in the Premier League.

But if Manchester City were to pay around £20m for him, they would be missing out on the opportunity to capitalize on his talents, as they did with Palmer. There will be many comparisons between the two given their similar ages and playing positions.Especially if McAtee is sold and Palmer thrives as he did at Stamford Bridge.

Given the potential risks, there’s a lot to think about whether to give City’s next rising star a chance or risk a big move elsewhere.
