Manchester City legend David Silva has proved Pep Guardiola wrong about Premier League football
Pep Guardiola’s adaptability as a tactician was evident when he dominated the Premier League with Manchester City. Erik Ten Hag criticized Guardiola for not adapting his City approach to the pace and physicality of English football.
But Ten Hag’s comments backfired when Pep Guardiola lost his job at Manchester United in October, where he won a second Premier League title. But the Manchester City manager’s vision of the English game was once defined by its physicality.
However, manager Guardiola quit after hearing a lecture on the Premier League 2019. Pep Guardiola: David Silva will fail in the Premier League
Pep Guardiola has admitted it was a big mistake to predict David Silva would fail in England because of his small stature. Guardiola told The National: “He’s a small player. “When I was on the road my image of English football was ‘you might get injured’ but luckily I was wrong.”
“It took a long time to play 400 games, there were a lot of bad moments and a lot of good moments and it was amazing to be out there every day, every week. “He may have a good season, but he’s lived almost 10 years.”
“It’s wonderful. “It’s an honor for City fans, myself included, to see what he’s done for the club.”
Manager Pep Guardiola has explained why David Silva has been successful in the Premier League. “He’s one of the biggest and most intelligent players.”
“He moves really well in small spaces, everyone takes their time to make the right decisions, but he’s also really good in small spaces. He is one of the best.
Guardiola: “He played well with all the coaches here.
Roberto [Mancini], Manuel [Pellegrini] and us. After talking to his coaches in Spain, I understood what is practiced here. “People think he’s good with the ball, but he’s a lot more than that. This is his personality.
He is a great fighter. How he reacts in bad moments. His unique qualities will help him survive in the Premier League.
You must be so proud of him. But most importantly, David Silva managed to train one of the greatest talents in the history of the sport.
Silva immediately realized that he was indispensable to Guardiola at Manchester City.
David Silva has been one of Manchester City’s best players since Guardiola took over. The World Cup winner has established himself as a regular in the team, appearing in 31 league games for the Sky Blues in Pep Guardiola’s first season in charge.
During a forgettable season for the Centurions, Silva was one of the best players for Manchester City and the league as a whole and was nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award, which was later won by Mohamed Salah.
The following season, Manchester City won a domestic treble with 98 points and the retiring maestro was an integral part of his team’s midfield trio, especially when Kevin De Bruyne was injured. Before the former Valencia player left in 2020, he had never played fewer than 20 games in a season.

If Pep Guardiola’s approach to English football continues to result in a dominant physical environment, it would be fair to question whether he was successful in his youth.
Ultimately, Guardiola was Manchester City’s most influential player in 2018, scoring nine goals and providing 11 assists in the Premier League as one of two attacking midfielders alongside De Bruyne. City’s attacking midfield options at the time were Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva, who struggled to impress in their first season at City.
As City repeated their title triumph in the 2018/19 season, David Silva took on a less creative role in the team. He led the way alongside Ilkay Gundogan in midfield alongside Fernandinho. If De Bruyne’s absence means a collapse in midfield, the Sky Blues could be left feeling let down after their title triumph in 2018.
Bernardo established himself as a right-winger, and Foden was gradually integrated into the team that season. However, while Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero are the mainstays to provide the team’s attacking power, David Silva has scored six goals and provided eight assists in the league.
In his final season at the club, Silva was arguably his best.
However, if David Silva had not been a significant influence on Pep Guardiola in the past, players like Bernardo, Gundogan and Foden would not have been his midfield solutions. It goes without saying that the 38-year-old phenom helped Pep Guardiola find his feet in his first season at Manchester City. At Manchester City, he finished third and won the Premier League in 2018 and 2019.
David Silva has fulfilled Guardiola’s vision of becoming the leader of the most feared team in the Premier League with his control, execution and magic.
