Ronaldo has no natural talent – Rhodri
Manchester City midfielder Rodri has caused controversy in the football world with his comments about Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to him, the Portuguese star is less naturally talented than Lionel Messi.
Rodri, who is recovering from knee surgery, said this in an interview with Spanish television station El Hormigero on Wednesday.
Looking back at the debate over who is the best player of all time, the Spaniard took Messi’s side and criticized Ronaldo’s qualities.
He said: “Lionel Messi is, without a doubt, the best player of all time. “Cristiano could keep up with Messi without any natural talent, but those of us who have played against them can see the difference.”
The midfielder explained the contrasting challenges facing football’s two icons, pointing out that Messi is a much bigger threat on the pitch. “We didn’t want Cristiano in the penalty area because that’s where he’s lethal,” he said.
But with Messi, danger lurked everywhere on the pitch.
The Spaniard’s comments sparked debate among fans, many of whom interpreted his comments as a denial of Ronaldo’s natural talent.
Rodri also used the platform to mirror his victory at the prestigious Ballon d’Or last month, beating Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior to the coveted title.
Rhodri explained: “I wasn’t optimistic about going to the gala because there were rumors three weeks ago that Vinicius would win. “But even before I arrived in Paris, a lot of people started congratulating me. I hadn’t prepared my speech yet, but my dad insisted I prepare something just to be safe.
