
Tennessee announces game time changes for baseball series against Samford
KNOXVILLE, TN – The University of Tennessee has announced game time changes for the upcoming baseball series against Samford, which is scheduled to take place from March 1-3 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
The series, which was originally scheduled to begin on Friday, March 1 at 6:30 PM ET, will now start on Friday at 4:00 PM ET. The Saturday game, which was originally scheduled for 2:00 PM ET, will now take place at 1:00 PM ET. The Sunday game, which was originally scheduled for 1:00 PM ET, will now take place at 12:00 PM ET.
The changes were made due to inclement weather forecasts for the Knoxville area, which could impact the playing conditions and safety of the players and fans.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our fans, but the safety of our players and spectators is our top priority,” said Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello. “We’re looking forward to hosting Samford and competing in front of our great fans, and we’re confident that the adjusted schedule will allow us to do so in a safe and enjoyable environment.”
The series against Samford will be a key test for the Volunteers, who are looking to build momentum after a strong start to the season. Tennessee is currently 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the Southeastern Conference, while Samford is 6-4 overall and 0-0 in the Southern Conference.
The Volunteers have been led by a strong offense, which is averaging 7.5 runs per game and has hit 15 home runs in the first 10 games of the season. The pitching staff has also been impressive, with a 3.50 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 90 innings pitched.
Samford, meanwhile, has been led by a strong pitching staff, which has a 3.20 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 80 innings pitched. The Bulldogs have also been solid on offense, averaging 6.5 runs per game and hitting 10 home runs in the first 10 games of the season.
The series against Samford will be a key test for the Volunteers, who are looking to build momentum after a strong start to the season. With the adjusted schedule, Tennessee is hoping to avoid any weather-related issues and compete in front of a packed crowd at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
