Tennessee Junior Infielder Earns SEC Player of the Week HonorsK noxville, TN – Tennessee junior infielder, Christian Moore, has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Moore, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, had a phenomenal week at the plate, helping the Volunteers to a 4-0 record, including a series sweep over the Auburn Tigers.

During the week, Moore hit .533 (8-for-15) with two home runs, six RBIs, and four runs scored. He also walked three times and had a slugging percentage of 1.067.

Moore’s impressive performance was highlighted by a 3-for-4 effort in the series finale against Auburn, where he hit a home run and drove in three runs to help the Vols secure a 10-4 victory.

This is Moore’s first SEC Player of the Week honor of his career, and it marks the second time this season that a Tennessee player has received the award. Earlier this season, junior outfielder, Drew Gilbert, earned the honor after a strong performance against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Tennessee head coach, Tony Vitello, was thrilled to see Moore receive the recognition.

“Christian has been working extremely hard and it’s great to see him get rewarded for his efforts,” Vitello said. “He’s been a key contributor to our team’s success this season, and this honor is a testament to his dedication and perseverance.”

Moore’s award is also a reflection of the Vols’ strong team performance this season. Tennessee is currently 25-5 overall and 7-2 in the SEC, and they are ranked as high as No. 5 in the country in some polls.

The Vols will look to continue their winning ways this week, as they host the Vanderbilt Commodores in a mid-week game on Tuesday, before traveling to Oxford, Mississippi to take on the Ole Miss Rebels in a weekend series.

Moore and the Vols will be looking to stay hot and continue their push towards the top of the SEC standings.

In addition to Moore’s SEC Player of the Week honor, several other Vols players have also received recognition for their performances this season.

Junior pitcher, Chase Dollander, was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week earlier this season, after throwing a complete game shutout against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Senior outfielder, Evan Russell, has also been named to the SEC’s Player of the Week honor roll multiple times this season, after putting together several strong performances at the plate.

The Vols’ strong team performance has been fueled by a combination of talented players, solid coaching, and a winning team culture.

As the season continues to unfold, Moore and the Vols will be looking to stay focused and keep pushing towards their goal of winning a conference championship and making a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
