The Tennessee Volunteers football program has announced the hiring of Tyler Bowen as the team’s new Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach.
Bowen, a veteran coach with over 15 years of experience, joins the Vols’ staff after spending the past three seasons as the offensive line coach at Virginia Tech.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Tyler Bowen to our staff,” said Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel. “Tyler is a highly respected coach in the industry, and his expertise in the run game and on the offensive line will be a huge asset to our program. We’re excited to have him join our team and help us achieve our goals.”
Bowen’s hiring is a major coup for the Vols, who were looking to bolster their coaching staff after a successful 2022 season. Bowen’s experience and expertise in the run game and on the offensive line make him an ideal fit for Heupel’s staff.
“I’m honored to join the Tennessee football family,” said Bowen. “I’m excited to work with Coach Heupel and the rest of the staff to help build a championship-caliber program. The Volunteers have a rich tradition of success, and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.”
Bowen’s coaching career spans over 15 years, with stops at Virginia Tech, Penn State, and Maryland. He has a proven track record of developing talented offensive linemen and helping teams achieve success in the run game.
“Tyler is a tremendous coach and an even better person,” said Heupel. “He’s a great fit for our program, and I’m confident that he’ll do an outstanding job leading our offensive line and helping us develop a dominant run game.”
The hiring of Bowen is also a testament to the Vols’ commitment to building a strong coaching staff. Heupel and his staff have been aggressive in recruiting top talent to Knoxville, and Bowen’s hiring is the latest example of that effort.
“We’re excited to welcome Tyler to our staff,” said Tennessee athletic director Danny White. “He’s a highly respected coach in the industry, and his expertise will be a huge asset to our program. We’re committed to building a championship-caliber program, and Tyler’s hiring is a big step in that direction.”
Bowen will begin his new role immediately, and will get his first chance to work with the Vols’ offensive line during spring practice. Tennessee is expected to be a contender in the Southeastern Conference, and Bowen’s expertise will be crucial in helping the team achieve its goals.
“I’m excited to get started and help the Vols achieve success,” said Bowen. “I’m looking forward to working with the players and the rest of the staff to build a dominant run game and help the team achieve its goals.”
The hiring of Bowen is a major boost to the Vols’ coaching staff, and sets the stage for an exciting 2023 season. With Bowen on board, Tennessee is poised to make a deep run in the SEC and compete for a national championship.
“We’re thrilled to have Tyler on board,” said Heupel. “He’s a tremendous coach and a great fit for our program. We’re excited to see what he can do to help us achieve our goals.”
