The Tennessee Volunteers football program has announced the promotion of Tim Walton to Co-Defensive Coordinator.
Walton, who has been a member of the Vols’ coaching staff since 2021, will take on the new role effective immediately.
“We’re excited to promote Tim Walton to Co-Defensive Coordinator,” said Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel. “Tim has been an invaluable member of our staff, and his expertise in the secondary has been a huge asset to our program. He’s a talented coach who has earned this opportunity, and we’re confident that he’ll do a great job in his new role.”
Walton, who previously served as the Vols’ Defensive Backs Coach, has been instrumental in the development of Tennessee’s secondary. Under his guidance, the Vols’ defensive backs have shown significant improvement, and the team’s pass defense has become one of the most stingy in the Southeastern Conference.
“I’m thrilled to be promoted to Co-Defensive Coordinator,” said Walton. “I’m grateful to Coach Heupel for this opportunity, and I’m excited to take on this new challenge.
