Guardiola ‘open’ to Manchester City, Tottenham move as ready to sell £100m to sign ‘big name’
Tottenham want to sign Manchester City winger Jack Grealish in the next transfer window but the Citizens plan to let him go.
Manchester City have made a strong start to the new Premier League season, but their form has been poor of late as Pep Guardiola’s side have lost their last four games in all competitions.
Grealish has played a minor role for Manchester City so far, starting four Premier League games and six games in all competitions for England.
Former Manchester United and Aston Villa scout Mick Brown, who remains well-connected in the Premier League, said a week ago that Manchester City could benefit from Grealish as the Citizens look for a “big-name performer”. “I don’t know much about Jack Grealish,” Brown told Football Insider. He has been in and out of the team this season and has been inconsistent. “I’m happy they brought Doku and Sabinho into the team. I heard City want to bring in a high-profile winger because they can strengthen the team in that position. That’s next summer.” “But where does Grealish fit into the team? My guess is that if he signs a new option, they will cut him to free up cap space.
“Maybe they want the money back from him. You can also earn a lot of money to free up some of your budget.
“I’m sure he will be open because he wants to play football. “I’ve known Jack since he was at Villa and he’s always wanted to play.”
Now Football Insider has come back with new information, claiming that Premier League rivals Tottenham have “done a sensational deal to sign Grealish” during the summer transfer window.
The report includes:
There is a feeling at the club that they need to bring in players who can slow down the pace of the game, and Grealish’s ability to wreak havoc and drive the team forward is a valuable asset. “However, a deal is unlikely to be done in January as City struggle to protect players amid a growing injury crisis.”
Manchester City full-back Grealish is believed to be “open” to a move to Tottenham, but Sputnik will need to qualify for the Champions League.
