The Lakers have abandoned the City Edition uniforms that brought them bad luck

While the Luka Doncic trade was the most important Los Angeles Lakers news of the year, their latest decision feels quite significant as well.

Of course, the trade for Doncic was purely about basketball and this choice feels more aesthetic. But for whatever reason, the seemingly aesthetic move has potentially played somewhat of a role with performance on the court as well.

After continually performing awfully while wearing their City Edition uniforms, which were black and purple and said “LakeShow” on the front, fans may never see these worn again.

Per the NBA’s LockerVision site, the Lakers are no longer scheduled to wear their City Edition jerseys this season, a change from as recent as earlier this month.

Perhaps it is far to say they were ugly or even cursed, but for whatever reason, winning was simply not following this organization when this is what they were wearing.

So after opting out of wearing them two times (and winning both times) when they were scheduled to earlier this season, the Lakers no longer have any games with this uniform choice on their schedule.

They were previously scheduled to wear them six more times, so even if one of those opt-outs somehow helps them win an extra game in such a tight race for the standings in the Western Conference, it was worth it.
